What I have learned from children is the importance of being carefree and enjoying the simple things in life. Children do not worry about life’s stresses, such as relationships or bills. They enjoy the simple things like riding their bikes, playing games and swimming. Although, I will not be able to escape the responsibilities of adulthood, I have learned that I should relax more and enjoy everything around me. I am not too old to play games or ride my bike.
I have also learned that children trust and admire the people around them, including teachers. Children look up to these figures as role models and want to make them proud. For example, when I worked at a basketball camp the children trusted me that they were learning the correct skills. They were impressed with my capabilities and wanted to show me they could do the drill as well. Similarly, in “Walking Trees” the children in Mr. Meyers’s class admired him dearly even though he was not perfect. Pujnabi still cared for Mr. Meyers even though he called him Popcorn.
It makes me realize that with age and experiences people become less trusting and loving of others. It is a disappointing thought.

After 4 years in the media/marketing business, I recognized the same feeling. I wasn't relaxed, always worried I'd make a mistake and the professional adults would look down on me as being inexperienced, and not give me chances. I also didn't trust that much. Being around kids makes me smile because what they say comes from innocence (even though their comments aren't nice sometimes) and they look up to you with respect. They taught me to chill out and that life will always have good and bad things in it, but be yourself, and go for a bike ride often and enjoy it :)
There are times when I wish I could go back to living the life I had in Elementary School, without a care in the world. But it's a good point you make that we should try to do that to a certain extent anyway. For the little everyday stresses that happen, in the grand scheme of things they won't be all that important, so we do need to relax sometimes!
I couldn't agree with you more! Children do live life in a pretty carefree manner! It is great to see them enjoying the simple things in life. All too often we, as adults, stress over insignificant details and forget to just sit back and relax. We should learn to enjoy life and take a moment to giggle once in a while!
